New Jersey Outdoors Program

 
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife offers outdoor skills programs throughout the state that are designed to enable participants to learn about and enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits, including fishing, shooting sports, hunting, birding, kayaking, hiking and more.

These beginner programs are geared toward women through Outdoor Women of New Jersey (OWNJ) workshops and toward families through Outdoor Families of New Jersey (OFNJ) workshops.

May 11 OWNJ Surf Fishing Workshop - FULL
An introduction to the sport of surf fishing. The workshop will cover surf fishing basics, including knot typing, baits, casting, how to read the beach, fishing and filleting what we catch. Participants who attend this workshop will have the option to fish in the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament the following weekend, May 19, using the equipment from the workshop.

3-day 2-night locavore program for adults 21 years old and older interested in learning what’s edible in and around Barnegat Bay.

  • Reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply to workshops, as specified in the registration materials.
  • Licenses are required to be purchased for some workshops, as specified in the registration materials.
